Role

Graphic Designer

Project

NIFSC hosts the Indigenous Public Safety Conference and the National Firefighting Competition every autumn, with growing attendance and participation each year. As the in-house graphic designer, I lead a variety of design projects from concept to completion. My responsibilities include developing conference brand identity, creating essential publications like brochures and programs, crafting social media ads and web content, and designing swag items such as T-shirts and stationery.

The conference initially struggled with inconsistent design and a lack of Indigenous representation, including the absence of an established logo. To resolve this, a cohesive branding scheme was created, incorporating Indigenous patterns and elements to honour cultural identity. As a result, event attendance rose by 30-50%, accompanied by high satisfaction ratings and positive feedback.
